When Evan was a kid- we had a rule that when he could whistle “yankee doodle” from start to finish— he could receive a pocket knife. For many many months he practiced and practiced to get the whistle perfect. This painting captures the time when he whistled successfully for his father the complete tune. He was a little nervous to get it right, but ended up getting the pocket knife!
